18 October 2024–Down Day

18 October 2024–Down Day—We have a long driving day tomorrow from Emilia-Romagna to Sorrento (about eight hours), and it has been a busy several weeks; therefore, we claimed today as laundry day and a relaxed low-commitment down day. Once again, guess what? It rained! Toward mid-day, the rain stopped, the sun tried really hard to peak through the clouds, but remained mostly cloudy throughout the day. The laundromats here are pretty cool so far because once one steps inside, one can find everything one needs to do one’s laundry. Of course, one has to bring one’s money….Today, it was about seven Euros (approximately $7.00) for one washer load and four Euros (approximately $4.00) for one dryer load. The washer load price also includes detergent. We did take a bit of an excursion to visit the Ferrari Museum in nearby Maranello. There is a booth that permits test-driving of a Ferrari. One could stand in the parking lot and watch Ferraris coming back from their little trip. Beautiful, sharp-looking red, blue, white Ferraris, even one that was like a cross-over type of Ferrari. Dinner at a different local restaurant and gelato at Cremeria Ca Ranuzza followed—typical Emilia-Romagna fare.
