17 November 2024–Sea Day—St. Bonifacio Strait between Corsica and Sardinia and sailing on the Mediterranean Sea toward Cartagena, Spain—Ship stuff, i.e., eat, eat, Dutch Tea in the afternoon, presentations (on Olives/olive crop/olive oil, olive trees; on possible port excursions, on the ports themselves), Pantheon singers performance, sunset, onboard walking, and such. Sometimes, the water gets a little choppier when the ship goes through straits, but I did not notice it at all. John, who had gotten up to use the restroom, anyway, noticed that the hangers in the closet were clanging a little bit. We went through the Strait at around midnight, and thereby we officially sailed away from our beloved Italy. I will say that when the Pantheon performers sang a song in Italian (the singers are from Trieste, Sicily, and Rome), just hearing the language that for me had become second nature since 12 September brought back a ton of emotion for a little while. I love our cabin. We are on the 11th of 12 decks. We are also the second-to-last cabin in our row of cabins. The exit door to the 11th floor walking path is only two doors away. They say that it is best to be in the middle of the ship to avoid feeling the ship’s motion, but so far, this cabin has been fantastic! (It helps that the sea has been so calm)! Tomorrow, we dock at Cartagena, Spain. John and I have decided to hop off the ship and tour about on our own. The ship will supposedly dock within walking distance to the center of town, so we will try to see what we can see for as long as we want to see it, and we will look for a sample of sangria and perhaps some yummy tapas, for which Cartagena is known.
